There has been a lot of news recently regarding the US debt ceiling, a potential collaboration between Eastern powers to remove the dollar as the leading global reserve currency and a general feeling of uncertainty around the strength of the US Dollar.
Will the US Dollar be replaced? In my opinion no, at least not for the foreseeable future, over 90% of global transactions are still fulfilled using the US Dollar, and who would be their biggest rival? The Chinese Yuan? Not likely as historically China have been reluctant to allow the Yuan to be traded freely on the market. Crypto? Again, unlikely as these are privately issued and if the US is any indication Crypto will either be marginalized by regulation or replaced by government issued stable coin.
I’m interested to hear what your thoughts are regarding the US Dollar in the years to come?
